Piqua Harley-Davidson® Things To Do
#1 Ride over to Piqua!
It's a nice ride (or drive) from anywhere to get to Piqua and there are lots of great things to do and see in our area.
WHERE TO EAT:
There are lots of great restaurants in the area but there are a few that are 'near and dear to us for one reason or another. We've listed them here for you to consider:
- BELLA'S ITALIAN GRILLE (Celina, Ohio) - This restaurant is located on the west bank of Grand Lake St. Marys in Celina, Ohio. They have yummy Italian food, as the name suggests, but they also have lots of sandwiches and other dining favorites to choose from. The view is beautiful and it's just an easy ride up Routes 66 or 127 to get there.
- DOBO'S DELIGHTS BAKE SHOPPE(Piqua, Ohio) - Ever wonder where our Saturday donuts come from? Well Cindy, Sarah and the rest have been lovingly preparing donuts, cookies, cakes, Hungarian specialties and more for us since we moved to Piqua. If your sweet tooth is calling for a treat, you need to get to DoBo's!
- FARMER BROWN RESTAURANT (Arcanum, Ohio) - We love Farmer Brown sandwiches! You will too. (The secret's in the sauce!) Stop by and get a sandwich and some delicious ice cream and tell 'em Piqua's sent ya! (P.S. Eric is a Harley® rider, customer and all around great guy.)
- GEORGE'S DAIRY BAR (Piqua, Ohio) - Dave, the owner, is a long time customer and rider. They're well known for their coney dogs (a Tracy favorite), shredded chicken sandwiches and, of course, ice cream. Be sure to check out the message board for the latest funny quote or statement about the goings on in Piqua or the world. Dave comes up with some real doozies! Sorry, no web site. They're located at the corner of Ash St. (US 36) and Spring St. a block east of Main St.
- SKYLINE CHILI (Troy, Ohio) - Cincinnati-style chili tastes great in Troy, Ohio too! Skyline is chain of restaurants that you're probably already familiar with, but the atmosphere at the Troy location is the BEST! Mike and his crew are on the ball and always give fast, friendly service. And for those of you aren't fans of chili, they also have salads and some tasty wraps on the menu.
- SUSIE'S BIG DIPPER (Piqua, Ohio) - Yummy ice cream, soups and sandwiches. Open year round! They also do catering. You'll also find them at Piqua H-D® for several of our events each summer!
- MULLIGAN'S PUB (Piqua, Ohio) - Located in Historical downtown Piqua. Mulligan's is a casual, friendly environment that serves great food and beverages. Craft beer and catering services are also avaliable in this great space located in the newly renovated Fort Piqua Plaza.
WHAT'S WORTH SEEING:
- FORT PIQUA PLAZA (Downtown Piqua) - The Fort Piqua Hotel, a five story five-story Richardson Romanesque building, opened its doors in 1891 on High Street in downtown Piqua. Since then it has been a major focal point of the Piqua community, not only because of its dominating size and exquisite architecture, but also because of the many important local historical events that have occurred within the building. The Fort Piqua Hotel has hosted presidents, governors and senators and its balconies have been the stage for such well-known politicians as Teddy Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. The local Civic Rights Movement took a major step forward in ending discrimination when African-American citizens were served food at the "bus stop lunch counter." During the 1970's, Vietnam draftees waited in the hotel lobby for buses that would take them to the military induction center in Cincinnati. In 2008 a 20+ million dollar restoration was completed and it was renamed the Fort Piqua Plaza. It is now home to the Piqua Public Library, Winan's Fine Coffee and Chocolates, a restaurant and banquet facilities. It is open to the public during library hours.
- MIAMI COUNTY PARK DISTRICT Miami County, Ohio has some incredible parks. They host a variety of events and learning opportunities.
- MIAMI VALLEY VETERANS MUSEUM (Troy, Ohio) - The purpose of the Miami Valley Veterans Museum is first and foremost, to honor and preserve the memory of local veterans through a museum dedicated to their contributions, to create and protect the freedoms that we as Americans enjoy. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Masonic Building in downtown Troy, Ohio. The 2nd floor is accessible from stairs or an elevator. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1pm until 5pm or by appointment.
- BICYCLE MUSEUM OF AMERICA
